Dia de los Muertos Ofrenda Course

  • Dark II Light 16071 Eureka Road Southgate, MI, 48195 United States (map)

Día de los Muertos Ofrenda Course at Dark II Light Mars Day (Tuesday) October 29th, from 7pm-9pm.

In this course, we’ll discuss how to create an Ofrenda (Ancestor Offering Altar) in enough time to celebrate Día de los Muertos (October 27th-November 3rd, or some only see it as November 1st-2nd) & go over why its recommended to have an Ofrenda year round. Plus we’ll go over some of the modern symbols & traditions around Día de los Muertos along with the ORIGINAL roots of this holiday prior to Spanish Colonization. We’ll talk about how to reposition Día de los Muertos to its Indigenous roots while seeing the beauty of celebrating what it is currently. One can look forward to learning ways to connect deeper to their ancestors via an Ofrenda. We’ll even share where you can visit local Ofrendas around Metro Detroit! Each student will also leave with dried Marigolds to include on their own Ofrenda’s too!
